Friends of Arrow Rock
Established in 1959, the Friends of Arrow Rock seeks to “share the Missouri frontier experience with current and future generations” by preserving the artifacts and buildings of the National Historic Landmark village of Arrow Rock. The group has restored numerous buildings from the early to mid-19th century and, more recently, several structures related to the community's African-American heritage. The Friends provide guided tours of the village, including buildings of the state historic site as well as private structures, and host numerous lectures and other special events throughout the year.
Friends of Camp Zoe
The Friends of Camp Zoe is a membership-supported non-profit organization with the mission to preserve, support and promote the history of Camp Zoe (1929-1986) in Round Spring, Missouri. The primary focus is on restoration and long-term maintenance of those features and elements of Echo Bluff State Park that were part of the former Camp Zoe, including the Camp Zoe Lodge. As stewards of the history of the beloved summer camp, the Friends of Camp Zoe is dedicated to safeguarding the memories of the popular boys’ and girls’ camp by preserving its buildings and artifacts and sharing the stories of the camp experience with current and future generations.
Deutschheim Verein
Deutschheim Verein supports the preservation and enrichment of the Deutschheim State Historic Site, which reflects the heritage and culture of nineteenth-century German immigrants to Missouri. A not-for-profit group of dues-paying members, the organization sells German Christmas tree ornaments to raise money for the site. During Maifest, Oktoberfest, and Weihnachtsfest, the Verein also sponsors a variety of children’s activities.
Friends of Fort Davidson
The Friends of Fort Davidson is a non-profit volunteer association that works to preserve Fort Davidson and the surrounding battlefield, where the Battle of Pilot Knob took place in September 1864. In addition to promoting hiking opportunities, the group works with local landowners to protect the battlefield. Every three years (including the forthcoming sesquicentennial of 2014), the group also supports a re-enactment of the Battle of Pilot Knob.
Foundation for Restoration of Ste. Genevieve (Felix Valle State Historic Site)
The foundation since 1967 has promoted preservation and restoration of historic structures and other property in Ste. Genevieve, encouraged scholarship on this National Historic Landmark community, and promoted heritage tourism. It maintains and presents several historic buildings and the historic cemetery and cooperates with the Felix Valle State Historic Site and other organizations on preservation, education, and tourism programs.
Friends of Hawn Association (Hawn State Park)
The purpose of the Friends of Hawn Association is to assist Hawn State Park in its mission by filling in where needed most. The mission of the Friends of Hawn Association is to help Hawn State Park engage and educate the public, including the local communities.
Katy Land Trust
The Katy Land Trust, a program of the Ozark Regional Land Trust, was formed to work cooperatively with landowners in the Katy Trail region to conserve farms and forests. It provides information to landowners about conservation practices, including conservation easements, and works with interested landowners to implement them.
Katy Trail Merchants and Communities
Katy Trail Merchants and Communities promotes the creation of sustainable economic development along the Katy Trail corridor through an organized network to combine resources in order to raise awareness of the Katy Trail as a statewide tourist destination. Its website serves as bridge between the merchants and communities along the Katy Trail and the public that visits them.
Katy Trail Sedalia, Inc.
Katy Trail Sedalia, Inc., has worked with the city of Sedalia, the Union Pacific Railroad, and the Missouri State Parks to acquire land and complete both the Katy Trail’s extension through the city and the restoration of the its Katy Depot. Each year members assist in trail rides and participate in clean-up projects along the trail.
Les Amis (Felix Valle State Historic Site)
Le Amis supports and contributes to state-owned properties (both real and personal) of French heritage in and around Ste. Genevieve, and also to activities and properties that reflect the French heritage of the “Creole Corridor” that stretches from St. Louis down both sides of the Mississippi River. The group raises funds to help acquire, restore, operate and maintain such properties in cooperation with Missouri State Parks and other organizations.
Missouri Archaeological Society – Three Rivers Chapter (Mastodon State Historic Site)
The Three Rivers Chapter of the Missouri Archaeological Society holds its meetings at Mastodon State Park and participates in the "adopt-a-highway" program for the road in front of the park. The chapter partners with the park in producing its Archaeology Day and, when possible, also helps support archaeology days and other activities at Graham Cave and Washington state parks.
Missouri Master Naturalists
A parthnership of the University of Missouri Extension and the Missouri Department of Conservation, the Missouri Master Naturalist program seeks to engage Missourians in the stewardship of our state's natural resources through science-based education and volunteer community service. Program volunteers support conservation efforts and natural resource education in their local communities.
Missouri Mudders (St. Joe State Park)
The Missouri Mudders is a non-profit organization that promotes the sport of Off Road Motorcycling with an emphasis on sportsmanship and the need for land preservation and good trail usage. The Mudders sponsor and manage competitive off-road events in Missouri, including an Enduro in the Spring and a Hare-Scrambles in the fall. The group maintains an active and supportive partnership with St. Joe State Park, which it describes as “Missouri’s premier off-road vehicle area.
MSM Spelunkers (Onondaga Cave State Park)
The oldest caving club in Missouri, the MSM Spelunkers, headquartered in Rolla, are dedicated to the safe exploration, protection, conservation, and documentation of caves and karst regions. The club serves to connect enthusiasts who share a love of caves and also helps to educate people about caves and caving in Missouri, including caves in Onondaga and other state parks.
Onondaga Friends Association
The Onondaga Friends Association is a non-profit, volunteer organization whose members support Onondaga Cave State Park. The group promotes park events, including tours, and supports park efforts to cultivate greater public appreciation and preservation of natural and cultural resources.
Pershing Park Memorial Association
Formed in 1930, the Pershing Park Memorial Association is dedicated to keeping alive the memory of General John J. Pershing. The association has a long history of acquiring and supporting cultural resources associated with Pershing's ties to Missouri, having in 1948 purchased the general's boyhood home, which it sold to the state four years later; the Pershing Home State Historic Site opened in 1957. The association currently supports the fundraising campaign for the construction of a Pershing Memorial Museum and Leadership Archives.
Friends of Rock Bridge Memorial State Park
The Friends of Rock Bridge Memorial State Park is a non-profit, membership-supported group of about 150 people that promotes greater understanding, appreciation, and enjoyment of the park's cultural and natural resources. The group assists with the preservation of the park and has supported a variety of educational programs.
The Route 66 Association of Missouri
The association was established to preserve, promote, and develop Historic Route 66 in Missouri. It functions as a liaison with state and federal agencies for studies of the route, promotes efforts to preserve sites along the route, including Route 66 State Park, and acts as an umbrella organization for cooperative promotions and information sharing.
Friends of Scott Joplin
The Friends of Scott Joplin work with the Scott Joplin State Historic Site to preserve and promote the ragtime genre popularized by the Missouri composer in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Since 1997, the friends have gathered on the first Sunday of each month for a “Ragtime Rendezvous.” in which they meet and play their favorite ragtime tunes. The group also brings noted ragtime pianists to the St. Louis area and helps to promote ragtime performances throughout Missouri.
Trail of Tears Association--Missouri Chapter
The Trail of Tears Association is a non-profit organization formed in 1993 to support the creation, development, and interpretation of the Trail of Tears National Historic Trail, which commemorates the forced removal of the Cherokee people from their homelands in the southeastern United States to Indian Territory from 1838 to 1839. The Association has chapters in nine states. Members of the Missouri chapter are interested in Trail of Tears State Park and other sites along the trail in Missouri.
Watkins Mill Association
The Watkins Mill Association was founded in 1958 to promote the Watkins Woolen Mill State Historic Site and to provide financial assistance for preservation projects carried out by the Division of State Parks. Beginning with the purchase of the milling equipment and then of the mill building and its eventual donation to the state for an historic site, the association over the past half century has donated some $700,000 to the site. Its members work to promote and preserve the site’s cultural and natural resources. In addition to funding an internship at Watkins Mill, the association also supports Living History Weekends and other programs at the site.
